tower

yes i climbed the tower

and put my head inside the bell

birdfire smashed around

twittered on my eyewing will

up dusty shafts in sun on

a twenty metre rope hung weights

to work the clock

its metal parts

still grumbled in its automatic heart

i stood at a tall window

my bare feet on bees

dead from a summer swarm

and saw two elms arch over

steps up which my bride came

years later in rainy may for me
