where the words come from
and then in my soft porch innocuous
a sweet voice pentecostal
clear as moonlight outside Tucson
injected me with calmest night
like an angel knocked silly by plainsong
I fell among headstones fluttering I
thudded, a confused marsupial
caught in headlights
though I was driving and considered myself
invulnerable
I veered toward them
but they flew either side of me
two bikies out for a burn in the dark
or the long trek
south
of the solar system debris
zones and lava flow
and all my history
cooled into light
