this poem’s called ‘cheap spring’ do you know what I’m talking about frozen surprises in a noisy room intervals of Korean cakes edible flowers greeting cards envelopes with jeolpyeon bukkumi and Australian wine red white bubbly organic at elevated prices and the crowd elevated by the cellos’ song I talk with a guy from Alaska who’s been here five years churning out hunza lentil shepherd pinto empanada wallaby potatoes gravy and the ease of interfacing with the government in Australia income tax drivers licences and free-ish healthcare but I have to leave him and his tats piercings because the interval is over and the choir is back indeed they come on singing something from a movie not yet made hey here we are in a traditional wooden town hall with spring decorations on the heads of the choir in their wafty spring gear and spring arrangements lazing on the window ledges oh I didn’t tell you before the interval there was a video of two kids from the choir faces upside down talking with weird accents cracking jokes I forget the content the massage is the means and I’ll continue this more maybe next time you return if you can be bothered you’re welcome I’m sure ’cos spring is never cheap it costs the earth tho’ by now it’s unreliable
