eggphrastic
an animal in a bed
remembering an episode
long ago, connubial
an anthem amen ahem
a trip dick alter peace
a bathroom baton resist
or running at high speed
as if on roller skates
a tray
of hors d’ouevres
balanced on one hand
through empty galleries
in one of them’s
a bowl of ceramic eggs
a child breaks a real egg over them
she says, you know
I only paint
the surface beauty of such things
