stage stalks
Stage stalks flower in inside sunshine
but, when the play is over, petal
onto petal falls and folds in soft relief and
the cool earth holds them –
delicate evening imaginations, arborescent
roots and feelings among the gentle weeds.
Time, in greening, sometimes seeds
bulbs floating in music and these grow
grey in the ground, longing to escape though
plants plan, by nature, conquest of limited space.
I face faces in the sun and it rays everywhere.
Like sunset clouds I must focus it
as brown bares gold and promises to bring rain here.
Showers, shower all tomorrow.
Spring bright flowers upon the atmosphere!
